Würfel Spedition GmbH was founded by Heinz Würfel in Bremerhaven's fishing port in 1946. The company’s business purpose was to transport fresh fish between Cuxhaven and Bremerhaven.
With Gert Würfel, the second generation took over the helm of the company in 1974 to continue the tradition started by his father. In the years that followed Würfel acquired participating investments in several logistics companies and gathered valuable experience in other areas of transport and service. During this period, special know-how for transport using jumbo swap bodies was developed, with the associated numerous innovations and patents.
Back in 1995, Würfel established its own logistics business in order to cater to increased customer requirements through holistic logistics concepts. This step was preceded by a campaign to further improve the qualifications of our own employees:
Our aim was to identify the challenges faced by our customers more quickly and to solve them faster than others. Since then, the focus of the company has been placed on sound further training and continuous professional development, the idea being to recruit experts and managers from our own ranks.
In 2010, Hans-Jürgen Schlausch and Karim Gebara joined the executive team as principal shareholders. The Würfel Group has grown steadily since then and the team has expanded by 40 percent. At the end of 2014, Gert Würfel retired but remained available to the company for some time afterwards in a consultant capacity.
